Reconciliation the Centre of our Work

Our Work

Refugee Sponsorship

In 2015, Foothills MC sponsored a Syrian family, who arrived to Calgary late in the year. We helped this family with practical things like housing, finances, and grocery shopping, as well as offering friendship and emotional support. We have sponsored refugees from time to time over the past 30 years, and are currently building up our refugee fund for our next sponsorship.

We support Camp Valaqua, the church camp of Mennonite Church Alberta, financially and through volunteering.

Menno Simons Christian School is a Calgary-based school (K-9) within the Anabaptist/Mennonite faith tradition. Foothills MC is one of three sponsoring churches.

Our Alberta family includes 12 congregations of various cultural backgrounds, united by our faith in Jesus Christ. Together we are called Mennonite Church Alberta.

Mennonite Church Canada is a covenanted partnership of five Regional churches, including Mennonite Church Alberta. Together we support witness work, indigenous-settler relations and Christian education in Canada and beyond.

Relief, Development, Peace

We support the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) in its world-wide work in relief, development and peace. MCC shares God’s love and compassion for all in the name of Christ by responding to basic human needs and working for peace and justice. MCC runs programs in Canada (notably refugee settlement) and in many other countries.

MCC Thrift Shop

In addition to supporting MCC with direct financial contributions, many Foothills Mennonite Church members volunteer at, shop, or donate used goods to the Calgary MCC Thrift Shop. All net income from this Thrift Shop go to supporting MCC. The Thrift Shop also functions to keep quality used goods from needlessly filling our landfills!
